A parallel interview with Gibbs and Steen
Raymond Gibbs and Gerard Steen co-edited the volume Metaphor in Cognitive Linguistics (1999), co-authored the article “Questions about metaphor in literature” (2004) and collaborated in the Pragglejaz Group research developing a metaphor identification procedure known as MIP (“MIP: A method for identifying metaphorically-used words in discourse”, Pragglejaz Group, 2007).
These two distinguished metaphor scholars from different academic fields, whose research converges in some respects but diverges in others, kindly took time to share their views on metaphor in this parallel interview, answering the 21 questions independently from each other on John Benjamins’ e-Platform.
