The value of deliberate metaphor

Topic and scope This research investigates the difference between deliberate and non-deliberate metaphors. It will first establish a theoretical framework for deliberate metaphor and will develop a method for its identification. It will subsequently examine the functions and distribution of deliberate metaphor in spoken and written English discourse. Experimental research will investigate how deliberate metaphors are recognized and processed by language users.
